In the occasion of the inauguration of the exhibition Paper in motion: information and the economy of knowledge in the early modern mediterranean (on-site and displayed online), on 27 and 28 January 2022 a seminar will be held in Prato and online. Both events are organized by the Paper in Motion Work Group, led by Prof. José María Pérez Fernández (University of Granada) as a part of the PIMo COST Action, led by Prof. Giovanni Tarantino (University of Florence). The seminar intends to provide a ground-breaking approach to all the different documents related to the fields of trade and finance which circulated throughout vast networks connecting strategic location in Europe and elsewhere. The aim is to investigate their nature and functions, which will include not just financial and economic history, but also cultural and literary history, translation and media studies, and the history of communication.
On January 28, Pietro Delcorno, member of the board of the Centro Studi sui Monti di Pietà e sul credito solidaristico, will give the lecture "Mobilizing objects and money: Inventories of donations at the origin of the Monte di Pietà".
