History
The Monte dei pegni was founded in 1578 by Abbot G. Vincenzo Normandia, Vicar General of Diocesi di Sarno, and approved the same year by the Viceroy. In 1615, it received a significant bequest from notary Giovanni Angelo Frecentese, with the aim of granting dowries to poor girls; from then on, it assumed the name of Monte della Pietà Frecentese. The two institutes joined completely just in 1899. The institute ceased its activity in 1929, its patrimony was transferred to Ospedale di S. Fernandino and to the Kindergarten.
