History
The Monte was established on the initiative of the City Council in June, 1480, but in fact began its activity only in 1512. In 1912, the local Congregazione di Carità, which had taken over the administration in the course of the nineteenth century, decided upon its transformation, because it no longer corresponded to the purpose for which it was founded.
