History
The foundation dates back to the provisions of Albert VII, Archduke of Austria, and his wife Isabella. Architect Wenceslas Cobergher also took part in the foundation and construction of the institute's headquarters (which today houses the Academy of Fine Arts). However, the Monte did not start its activity before 1628. The institute ceased its activity in 1920.
