Its activity started with a capital of 20,000 scudi provided by Monte di Pietà di Firenze to the Community of Livorno and from the latter assigned to the new Monte. In 1928, the Monte was incorporated into Cassa di Risparmio di Livorno. Meanwhile, the Monte had established branches in Ardenza, Castiglioncello, Gabbro, Quercianella, Rosignano marittima and Cecina.

Archival history
The fund is an articulation of the superfund “Cassa di Risparmi di Livorno“. The documentation suffered serious damage during World War II, when the historic headquarters of Cassa di Risparmi was destroyed. Several papers relating to the Monte were given - but not purchased by Cassa di Risparmio - from the antiquarian bookshop Andrea Vallerini of Pisa in 1982.
