History
The Monte started operating in 1470, in some spaces inside Ospedale di S. Maria di Gesù. In 1502, it was transferred to a room in the ancient Palazzo Priorale (now episcopal). With a brief from Pope Clement XII, dated November 16th, 1735, the Monte was unified with the other two of the city, Monte Montanino - founded by Montanina, sister of the lord of neighboring Matelica, in 1534 - and Monte Sacchi - founded with bequest from doctor Francesco Sacchi in 1655. A major theft suffered at the beginning of the twentieth century led to its decline and subsequent cessation.
