History
The Monte was established in 1570 thanks to a loan from Conservatori della Giurisdizione e del Dominio Fiorentino to Comune di Empoli and began operating January of the following year. In 1781, it obtained autonomy from the central administration and was entrusted to a local civic magistrate. In 1940, it was absorbed by Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, while the detached sections of Santa Croce sull'Arno and Cerreto Guidi were ceded to Cassa di Risparmio di San Miniato.
