The Monte was instituted by the community and was granted a privilege by the Duke of Mantove Federico II Gonzaga, dated 20 March 1539. It operated as pawnbroking shop with an interest rate of 5%, administrated by three officials nominated by the town council. When Mantova and the surroundings became part of the Austrian dominions in the XVIII century also this Monte was involved in the reforms and received new statutes in 1783. Towards the end of the XVIII century its assets were severely damaged. The date of its final closure is unknown, but it certainly became part of the Congregazione di carità during the XIX century.
