History
The Monte was founded in 1568 by the Consorzio del Santissimo Corpo di Cristo, following the bequest by Francesco Pedroni Bologni, and it was approved by the local lord, Vespasiano Gonzaga. Its main activity was pawnbroking of small sums of money, which was also accompanied, especially in times of particular crisis, by the activity of credit in favour of the community. In 1807 the institute was merged with others dealing with public charity and was administered by the local Congregazione di carità
Activities
The initial pawnbroking activity had no interest rates. These were soon introduced as 5%. After several changes, the interest rate was set at 3% in 1612.
Internal organization
The administration of the Monte was entrusted to two presidents - the general vicar and the archpriest of the church of S. Pietro - who, in turn, with the intervention of the town council, elected other ten presidents, half of whom had to be resident in Bozzolo and the other half in the remaining parts of the municipality. At the beginning of the XVII century the number of presidents was reduced to six, later to three (the archpriest and two laymen), by 1612, and finally to two in 1784.
