History
The Confraternity of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli founded the Monte in 1583, with the consent of the viceroy Pedro Giron d'Osuna dated 29 November. The institution adopted the same statutes as the Monte di pietà of Naples. From 1589 the Monte received an annual revenue from the university. During the French occupation, the Confraternity of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli lost the administration of the Monte, formally obtaining it again in 1816, but without being able to operate with it until 1829. In 1948 the institution incorporated the Monte di credito su pegno of Frigento (AV). The Monte ceased its activity in 1966, when a ministerial decree dated 14 February revoked its authorization to exercise credit and put its assets in liquidation.
