History
The Monte was established by City Council resolution in 1468, with the direct intervention of Observant Franciscan preacher Fortunato da Perugia. As early as 1471 a commission was established, consisting of four citizens and Fortunato of Perugia, for the reform of the institute as well as assessing its sustainability. In 1473 the Monte was refounded, on the initiative of another Observant Franciscan preacher, Agostino de 'Maccabei da Perugia, who was preaching Lent in the city. In 1485, then again in 1487, the chapters of the Monte were then reformed by Bernardine of Feltre. The first century of the Monte's existence was characterized by a certain instability, witnessed by the continuous reforms, which ceased with the arrangement of 1578. Later, the institute remained stable for almost three centuries. In 1862, the administration was entrusted to the local Congregazione di Carità, which would draw up the new Single Statute in 1887. With Royal Decree of December 5th, 1941 the absorption of the institute by Monte di Credito su Pegno di Perugia was sanctioned, deliberated already the previous year.
