Monte di Pietà activities

History
The Monte was founded in 1549 by private initiative. In 1551 the first chapters were drawn up, though the institute did not begin its full activity before February 1580, following the drafting of new chapters. The activity suffered an interruption in February, 1797, to be then restored in 1845. In 1864, it went under the administration of the local Congregazione di Carità. By Regio Decreto of December 5th, 1941, the institute was incorporated into Monte di credito su pegno di Macerata.

Activities
Pawnbroking

Internal organization
The Monte was initially entrusted to 30 “Conservatori del Monte“, in charge for three quarterly shifts at a time. Following the editing of the chapters of 1580, Monte was entrusted to a “montista”.
