History
The Monte was erected in 1542, supported by the patrician Federico Tommasino, whose family was involved in the administration of the institute also in the following generations. During the following decades, the Monte acquired several donations from rich citizens, among which especially the bequest by Andrea de las Torres, who had been the Viceroy's governor of Andria, in 1566. The exact date of its closure is not known and its activity is documented up to 1917.

The Monte's first statutes required that the institute's administration should be entrusted to four officials, two laymen (a patrician and a representative of the people) and two clerics (a member of the cathedral's chapter and one of the chapter of San Nicola)
